Five Akron-area high school graduates were among those named Lisle M. Buckingham Scholars for the upcoming school year. The students will receive scholarships named after the former senior partner of the law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs in Akron. The award covers full tuition, fees, room and board for up to four academic years in an undergraduate program. The local winners were Isabella K. Bartholomew of Lake High; Amanda K. Brewer of Stow-Munroe Falls High; Daniel C. Crowder of Western Reserve Academy, Hudson; Daniel J. Giorgio, home-schooled, Sharon Township; and Rachel M. Salberg, Field High, Brimfield Township.
Five Hudson High School graduates received $2,500 scholarships from the Rotary Club of Hudson: Haley Coleman, who will attend the University of Akron; Lena Dahlby, Ohio State University; Jill Gaietto, Kent State University; Rylee Fitzgerald, Ohio State; and Carrie Shortman, the University of Cincinnati.
