KENT: Kent State head baseball coach Jeff Duncan will be the guest speaker at the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce’s luncheon on Aug. 15 at Water Street Tavern in downtown Kent.
Sponsored by McKay Bricker Framing & Gallery, Duncan will speak to local business owners and guests. The day begins with a networking event at 11:30 a.m. with the lunch and program beginning at noon.

Duncan was named head coach on June 25 after Scott Stricklin took the head coaching position at the University of Georgia. Before coming to Kent State, Duncan spent four seasons at Purdue, helping lead the team to a school-record 45 wins in 2012, including a Big Ten Regular Season Championship, Big Ten Tournament Championship and a NCAA Regional Host.
Duncan was named the assistant in the Big Ten most ready for a head coaching job by College Baseball Insider and was listed as one of the top assistant coaches in the nation by Baseball America.
He also played baseball professionally for nine seasons with the New York Mets, San Diego Padres, Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers organizations.
