Local pastors invited for a free train ride

By Colette M. Jenkins
Beacon Journal religion writer

Local church leaders are invited to participate in the Pastors in the Park program sponsored by the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and Cuyahoga Valley National Park on Wednesday.

The program begins at 10:40 a.m. at the Akron Northside Station, 27 Ridge St., where pastors will board for a free train ride through the national park. During the ride, information will be shared about opportunities for members of the faith community to experience the park, with a focus on health and wellness.

The scenic railroad, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, is dedicated to preserving passenger rail transportation in the park and along the historic Ohio & Erie Canalway. The park encompasses 33,000 acres along the Cuyahoga River, between Akron and Cleveland.

To register for Pastors in the Park, call 330-657-1914 or email pam_machuga@nps.gov. More information about the park can be found at www.nps.gov/cuva/.
