Kent State senior offensive lineman Brian Winters, a Hudson High School graduate, is one of 333 players who has been invited to participate in the NFL Scouting Combine Feb. 20-26 in Indianapolis.
The league released the official list of invitees Thursday.
Prospects go through a series of physical, mental and medical tests each year at the combine, so teams can evaluate them in preparation for the NFL Draft. This year, the draft will be held April 25-27.
Winters is the only combine invitee from Kent State this year. Last season, the 6-foot-4, 310-pound Winters played left tackle for the Golden Flashes and received first-team Mid-American Conference honors. He also was one of the three MAC players chosen to play last month in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.
Even though all 49 of his career starts at Kent State were at tackle, including 33 on the left side, Winters played guard in the Senior Bowl and might be best suited for that position in the NFL.
NFLDraftScout.com projects Winters as a third- or fourth-round pick.
