By Ohio.com staff

Kent State University announced Friday it has selected eight semi-finalists in its design competition to create a new building for the College of Architecture and Environmental Design, according to recordpub.com.

The winning architecture firm will build a $40 million facility located on university's Esplanade walkway by fall semester 2015.

Next, the university will narrow down the field by selecting four finalists. Those four firms selected will receive a stipend next month to create the design, with the winner being named by January 2013.
