Standing Rock Cultural Arts will sponsor an ice cream social from 1 to 4 p.m on Saturday at the intersections of Main and Water Streets in Kent. During the event, senior citizens will receive ice cream for free. Other attendees will pay 25 cents per scoop.

Magician Tom Craven will perform some of his well-know tricks during the event.  According to Standing Rock’s news release, Craven has done magic for more than 48 years. Craven recently released a book detailing the secrets behind his magic act.

Event attendees will also hear music by John Prtljaga, who specializes in playing his handmade organ.  His specialties are Dutch and German folk music, and he is returning to the ice cream social for the third year.

The ice cream social will be part of the Downtown Innovative Community Event (D.I.C.E) initiative. Standing Rock founded D.I.C.E. events to unite culture and the resources of downtown Kent.
