Mayor Jerry Fiala is up next for the one-year celebration series.
Like City Manager Dave Ruller, the multi-million-redevelopment project in downtown Kent is top of mind for Fiala.
Take a look at what he has to say about the project:
Q) What new development, slated for 2013, are you most excited about and why?
A) It's difficult to single any one thing out, but definitely Building C in our downtown development. (Building C, which will be located on the intersection of South DePeyster and Erie streets, will house Bricco restaurant on the bottom floor and 32 apartments on the upper floors.)
But really, [I am excited about] the whole downtown area. That is $110 million in construction going on this year.
Q) What is one thing most people don’t know about Kent?
A ) Again, it would have to be the downtown area. Last year, I hosted three class reunions and toured downtown with them. These were people, who lived here and moved away, and they come back and don't recognize it because it's changed so much, it's almost like a different place to them.
