Western Reserve Public Media, a partner in Connect Ohio’s statewide Every Citizen Online (ECO) free basic computer and Internet program, is offering this valuable resource to adults in Portage County.
Participants taking advantage of the ECO training are eligible to receive special high-speed Internet service and computer retail savings.
Classes are being held at the Western Reserve Public Media community center, located at 1750 Campus Center Drive, in Kent. Participants can register by calling (330) 474-5005.
Area adults taking advantage of the ECO training are eligible to receive home broadband service specials (offers including a free netbook with year subscription) and discounts toward computer purchases (starting at $119) from partner companies supporting the broadband training initiative.
“I’m amazed at the turnout of participants for this incredible opportunity,” said Jeff Good, director of education at Western Reserve Public Media. “Our instructors are working hard to make the classes adaptable for all skill levels of computer users, while leaving participants with an idea of what possibilities broadband gives to them.”
Program trainees come from a wide range of backgrounds, including small business owners, persons interested in increasing their education, job seekers, and seniors who have waited to adopt technology.
