Ohio gas prices creep up, stay under record highs

Associated Press

COLUMBUS: Gas prices in Ohio are up slightly from a week ago but remain well below the numbers logged last spring as fuel prices climbed to record highs.

The average price for regular gas in Ohio is $3.74 a gallon in Monday’s survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express. That’s 4 cents higher than a week ago.

Drivers in Ohio were paying about $4.11 at this time last year.

Crude oil prices have jumped over the past six months as better-than-expected U.S. economic activity and strong demand from developing countries such as China bolstered investor confidence.

Nationally, the average gas price dropped to $3.82 this week, down 4 cents from a week ago.
